What this means for your family

Wellbeing and comfort: what it means for your child

Across every room, we follow flexible sleep, rest and relaxation practices. Children may sleep early, join a later rest group, use candle meditation, hammocks or quiet play, especially children with additional needs, with peers supporting co-regulation. Families share changing routines and preferences daily. For your family, this means your child's comfort, rest, emotions and individual rhythms are treated as essential parts of learning. Talk with our team about how we protect and support your child's health, safety and wellbeing.

What families can expect

Healthy, safe and cared for.

Four practical commitments make the Quality Area meaningful for children and families.

01

Comfort is individual

Rest, food, emotions and daily rhythms are considered with families and adjusted around each child.

02

Safety is active

Educators supervise, anticipate risk and practise how to respond when situations change.

03

Wellbeing supports learning

Movement, nutrition, rest and emotional security create the foundation children need to participate.

04

Protection is everyone’s work

Clear responsibilities and child-safe practice help every adult act when a child needs support.

The seven Quality Areas

What quality feels like for your family.

Each area turns the National Quality Standard into experiences families can recognise at Hawthorn Street. Together, the seven pages contain all 200 family stories.
